British singer Ellie Goulding finally tied the knot with art dealer Caspar Jopling on August 31st at York Minster Cathedral. Crowds gathered around the cathedral to witness the couple arrive together with their star-studded guest list including several royals.
The bride, who gave us the hit songs “Love Me Like You Do” and “Burn” arrived at the church in a blue Volkswagen camper wearing a bespoke Chloe wedding dress designed by the label’s creative director, Natacha Ramsay-Levi. According to reports, it took 640 hours to complete the Victorian-inspired wedding ensemble.
Ellie wore a high-neck, long-sleeved wedding dress made of double crepe silk embellished with delicate crystals and pearls. The hand-embroidered glass beads used to decorate the gown represented the white roses of York, a place close to her new husband and his family. From Chloe’s Instagram stories, it was revealed that the atelier spent 590 hours working on the tulle veil with the couple’s initials.
She completed her ceremony look clutching a bouquet of fresh white roses. The groom, on the other hand, cut a classic figure in his suit with a light vest and a navy necktie by Savile Row tailors, Huntsman.
Crowds took delight in watching the parade of notable personalities in attendance including Katy Perry and fiancé Orlando Bloom, James Blunt, Sienna Miller, supermodel Karlie Kloss as well as Sarah Ferguson and her daughters, Princess Beatrice and Eugenie.
The festivities continued at Castle Howard, an 18th-century mansion where guests partied the night away. Ellie, who once graced the Victoria’ Secret runway as a guest performer had her own mini fashion show by changing into four different outfits for the reception.
Her first outfit change to greet the guests was an off-the-shoulder column dress by Stella McCartney. It features a slit lined with crystal trims. She kept her hair in a loose updo and swapped her minimalist studs for a pair of glitzy chandelier earrings.
For the cake cutting, the bride stunned the guests in a pearl beaded caplet over a white skirt from Ralph & Russo’s AW19 collection. Her last wardrobe change for an evening of singing and dancing was a quirky mini dress with sheer puffed sleeves by Balmain’s Olivier Roustieng.
After the event, the pop star posted snaps of her weekend wedding with a message saying:
“This weekend I married the love of my life, in God’s own country, surrounded by the people I cherish. Overwhelmed with gratitude. Thank you eternally to everyone involved in such a special time, including every single person that traveled from far and wide to come and celebrate with us at York Minster – a place that my husband and his family hold close to their hearts. I will never forget your support and generosity. We both send you all so much love and a massive hug xx”
Congratulations to the happy couple!
