In a wedding landscape that increasingly embraces individuality, the collaboration between Randy Lazaro and Chef Chele Gonzalez presents a compelling case for unconventional celebrations done right. Both teams approach their craft with a shared belief: weddings are not templates to follow, but experiences to build.

“To be honest, there was never any doubt, leaving Chef Chele out of the roster was simply not an option. This special Dream Themes project is something I’ve long envisioned, and it deserved nothing less than the best. Who could match a Michelin-starred chef? Another standout in the wedding industry today, Randy Lazaro. From the very beginning, I knew their collaboration had to go beyond the expected. The direction was clear: not ordinary, but elevated—unconventional,” shares Kitten Zapata, Editor-in-Chief of Wedding Essentials.

Lazaro’s styling philosophy centers on intention. His work moves away from excess, focusing instead on composition, spatial flow, and emotional impact. Each setup is designed to feel immersive, where florals, lighting, and structure guide guests through a narrative rather than overwhelm them with decoration. His approach reflects a shift in modern weddings, less about spectacle, and more about meaning.

On the culinary side, Chele Catering, led by Chef Chele Gonzalez and Chef Carlos Villaflor, mirrors this mindset through food. Their menus are not fixed offerings but curated expressions of a couple’s story.

Drawing from global techniques and Filipino roots, the team creates dishes that feel familiar yet elevated. Presentation plays a crucial role, ensuring that each plate aligns visually with the overall design direction.

What sets this partnership apart is their seamless integration. Styling and cuisine are developed in tandem, allowing both disciplines to inform each other. A textured tablescape finds its counterpart in thoughtfully plated dishes.

Ambient lighting complements the pacing of service. Every detail works toward a unified guest experience.

For couples exploring unconventional weddings, this collaboration highlights an important takeaway: cohesion matters. When visual and culinary elements are aligned, the celebration feels intentional from start to finish.

As both teams emphasize, choosing the right partners is key. Beyond aesthetics or taste, it is about finding creatives who understand how to translate vision into a complete sensory journey, one that guests will remember long after the day ends.
