The More You Hate, The More You Love: A story of being frenemies to lovers

Featuring Anjo Carl Famini and Aimee Fernandez

Our love story started from playful moments when he would sneakily hide my mouse dongle, relishing my puzzled frowns as I searched, only to find him grinning mischievously.

Life’s journey with Anjo has been a mix of challenges, but mostly of fun. We started as strangers, became “frenemies”, to real friends, and then lovers. Along this path, we’ve weathered storms and basked in sunshine, never imagining we’d one day decide to get married. Our journey together began on July 5, 2018, and has spanned five beautiful years, with many more to come.

It was on December 31, 2022,that Anjo proposed to me. What appeared as a casual gathering was, in truth, a meticulously planned affair. Amongst our family and loved ones,  he just made the most heartwarming proposal. Everyone was on their phones and they captured the moment. My sister and her family joined us from afar via live video chat. It was a moment of pure joy and surprise, forever etched in my memory.

Our wedding day, March 9, 2024, embraced a ‘Rustic Boho’ theme, unfolding amidst nature’s whims. Rekados’ La Casa of Catering really pulled it off with the magnificent and lavish decor and transformed Soiree Events Place into the most magical Christian garden-wedding.

Despite the morning rain and its uncertainty, the love and anticipation in our hearts remained steadfast. Walking down the aisle in the ethereal elegance of a Maison Ramiro masterpiece, I felt overwhelming gratitude as I glimpsed the faces of cherished loved ones.

Despite the weather’s unpredictability, our celebration persevered, a testament to our enduring love and commitment.

Our non-negotiables Arvin Simbulan Photography and Van Mariano Visuals did a very excellent job in capturing and recording all special parts of the wedding.

Part of the program was the Family Feud game where it had some details about us; our favorite destinations, food, activities and disagreements as a couple. People enjoyed the game because apart from the prizes, they knew me and Anjo a lot more now.  Our host Shayne Mallari was seamless in running the whole program.

Another thing I loved during the wedding is my preparations. I got to share my design skills and crafted designs for our wedding invitation, handmade wreath flowers for flower girls, ring, coin, bible, second veil and cord holders. Me and my husband will never forget all the wedding preparations with all the efforts in putting everything in order, being hands on and giving our full time to ensure we didn’t miss anything, and we never regret doing it.

Despite the weather’s unpredictability, and other imperfections our celebration persevered, a testament to our enduring love and commitment. We are beyond thankful to our Almighty God for the strength, love, guidance and support to make this wedding a memorable one.
