Featuring Franco and Carla Khoshaba
It began with a swipe right in 2018. Carla saw Franco’s profile on Tinder, thought he was handsome, and decided to give it a try. Unknown to her, he had already swiped right too. They matched, talked, drifted apart, and stayed connected online. Then, on Carla’s 24th birthday in 2019, Franco greeted her, and the conversation picked up again. This time, it stayed.

After months of daily messages and long-distance effort, they finally met in 2020. Franco picked Carla up for their first date at a seafood restaurant near her area. The connection was instant, easy banter, laughter, and that rare kind of comfort that feels like home. Years later, Franco would tell her, “The first time I saw you, I knew you were the woman I want to marry.”

On January 1, 2025, during New Year celebrations in the Philippines, Franco made that feeling official. Surrounded by Carla’s family, fireworks, balloons, flowers, and a ring secretly kept in his back pocket, he gave a heartfelt speech and asked, “Carla, will you marry me?” Carla, overwhelmed with joy, finally got to call him her fiancé.

Their wedding day became everything they prayed for, and more. Franco, who is Assyrian and grew up in Australia after moving from Iraq, honored his heritage with a traditional send-off. His family arrived in traditional clothing, with drums and zorna music filling the morning as they escorted him out of the house. The celebration then continued at Carla’s home, where she was lovingly escorted before heading to St. Mary’s Church in Bondi.

For Carla, the most emotional detail was her bouquet. Wrapped around it was a custom rosary carrying photos of her late grandparents, making her feel that they were walking with her too. She also chose to have both parents walk her down the aisle, a beautiful full-circle moment of love, family, and gratitude.

At the reception, Franco and Carla went full main-character energy. They planned and paid for everything themselves, creating a celebration filled with white drapes, romantic florals, cocktails, Assyrian music, English party songs, light sticks, mirror booths, 360 videos, shots on the dance floor, and CO2 lasers.
Carla described it simply: “It was perfect.” Their guests called it “The Wedding of the Century”, and honestly, they understood the assignment.
