The engagement of Axel Ngui & Julianna Uy
Axel and Julianna’s Ting Hun unfolded like a thoughtful love letter, one that honored tradition while gently weaving in pieces of who they are as a couple.

Set against the refined backdrop of Manila House Private Club, their celebration began with intention: to keep the spirit of the Ting Hun alive, but reinterpret it in a way that felt modern, intimate, and unmistakably “them.”

From the moment guests arrived, the tone was clear. The space was dressed in meaningful details, lush red florals, symbolic elements like eggs and gift trays, and personalized touches bearing their names and logo.

Even their choice of attire reflected this balance. “We wanted to keep our Ting Hun simple, but still true to who we are as a couple,” they shared. Instead of traditional Chinese garments, Julianna wore a classic gown while Axel donned a tailored suit—elegant, timeless, and personal.

As the program began, their host carefully guided guests through each ritual, explaining the meaning behind every exchange. For many in attendance, it was their first Ting Hun, making the experience not just ceremonial, but educational and deeply engaging.

Axel and Julianna were intentional about this. “It was important to us that the traditions were explained, so our guests could feel included and truly part of the event,” they said.

The ceremony flowed into one of its most meaningful highlights: the Misua and Sweet Egg soup. Shared with family elders, the dish symbolized longevity and fertility, a quiet yet powerful moment that grounded the celebration in its cultural roots.

From there, the event transitioned into a warm gathering filled with laughter, conversation, and a curated playlist that carried the mood effortlessly.

One of the most touching moments came when Axel and Julianna formally introduced each other to their families using the names they lovingly call one another, a simple gesture that spoke volumes about acceptance and unity.
“It made welcoming each other into our families even more special,” they reflected.

For the couple, the day wasn’t about grandeur, but about meaning. “All the little details, from the décor to the program, were a reflection of us,” they said. And in that authenticity, their Ting Hun became not just memorable, but deeply felt by everyone present.

WE tip: When planning your Ting Hun, honor the traditions, but don’t be afraid to personalize them. Choose elements that reflect your story, and ensure your guests understand the meaning behind each ritual. A well-guided, heartfelt experience will always leave a lasting impression.
