On a sweet social media post on Sunday, just in time for the town fiesta of Tacloban City, Hon. Raymund Romualdez introduced his girlfriend to the public.
“My rock. With all the adventures we’ve experienced together, I couldn’t be more excited for a lifetime with you, Rai,” he said.
The couple started as friends in college and their relationship was built from it. They have similar hobbies: surfing, free diving, traveling, and anything spontaneous.
Hon. Raymund Romualdez is currently the president of the Liga ng mga Barangay of Tacloban and the whole Region 8, he is also a member of the City Council of Tacloban. Always beside him while he does all of these all at once is his ‘rock’, as he describes his fiancée, Rai Tan, a successful entrepreneur and an adrenaline junkie just like Raymund.
During the devastating onslaught of Yolanda, Raymund played a vital role in the relief operations during the typhoon, and the very successful rise, rehabilitation, and redevelopment of Tacloban 11 years after, aiding his father, Tacloban City Mayor Alfred Romualdez who left him a message of support to his son’s upcoming wedding: “To my son Raymund, as you step into this new chapter of life, know that I am incredibly proud of the man you’ve become. May your marriage be filled with endless love, joy, and adventure. Here’s to a lifetime of happiness together with my future daughter-in-law Rai.
Congratulations! Raymund and Rai!,” Mayor Alfred Romualdez said on his Facebook post.
In his activities these past few months, it is apparent that Rai has always supported him as he serves the public, she can be seen along with him during some of his initiatives involving community outreach, creating programs that support both the youth and the elderly, preservation of culture and arts, and leading the head of the barangays both in his city and the entire Region 8.
