Growing up in a Disney princess’s era, I had always dreamt of a fairytale-like wedding since I was a child. But the wedding we had planned for more than a year was wiped out in a snap.
A few days before the much awaited union, we were faced with the most heart breaking news of Taal Volcano’s eruption. Foremost to us was the safety of everyone so we had to make a decision to let go of the plans to have the wedding in Tagaytay. Most brides would have the privilege of a beauty rest especially on days closer to their weddings. I was not extended the same privilege as I had to tough it out with my asthma attacks exacerbating with the ash falls and the stressful requirements of our alternative plan B. All possible venues in Manila were booked and could only place us on a waiting list.
Holding on to God’s promise of new mercies every morning, Kim and I never faltered on our belief that God is in control. And by God’s grace, we got ourselves confirmed on February 01, 2020 at the Discovery Primea in Makati. It was a 180-degree change from the ethereal boho theme we had originally planned to have because we both share the same love for nature. But Discovery’s staff and management just did a very good job in setting up everything conveniently to our taste. We saw the hands of God in everything that was put together that day. It was perfect. May not be the one we wished for, but we got a better one in exchange.
Everyone, suppliers and all, became our friends. Together with our families, we celebrated the day with full of appreciation for the grace of God. So unforgettable that even through the ashes, we found the meaning in God’s promises…a message in the mess…a testimony in a test.
