Featuring Gian Carlo E. Tio and Roxanne Mae S. Austria-Tio
There’s a saying that “what’s destined for you will always be yours,” no matter how many twists and turns life may throw your way. For Gian and his bride, this truth unfolded in the most beautiful and unexpected way, though they didn’t realize it at the time.
Their story began in 2012 at FEU-NRMF, where both were medical students. From the moment she first saw him—tall, dark, and handsome—he seemed like the charming prince she had always imagined in her dreams. But, as often happens with crushes, she figured he would remain a distant fantasy. They became classmates, and as she focused on the pressures of medical school, she convinced herself their paths would never truly cross.
Then came their graduation ball in 2016—a night meant to mark the end of one chapter and the beginning of another. She never expected that night would turn into the start of something extraordinary. They had a simple picture taken together—just a keepsake, or so she thought. But as the evening wore on, they shared their first dance. The music was fast, yet in that moment, time seemed to slow down. There was something electric between them, something neither could deny. From then on, he never let go of her hand.
She told him she liked him, unsure of what would come next. But his smile, so warm and sincere, told her this was different. They had both quietly harbored feelings for each other since their first day in medical school, but it took years for either of them to admit it.
It wasn’t until their wedding day, when Gian stood before her and read his vows, that she learned just how long he had loved her.
The Proposal
Five years later, Gian took her to Tagaytay, a place that had become a special part of her life. It was there, in that serene setting, that he proposed. Tagaytay had been a refuge for her during both highs and lows, and now it would forever hold the memory of one of the happiest moments of her life. Gian, naturally reserved, created an intimate proposal. The venue was filled with pictures of them, documenting their journey together. The starry night theme was simple yet perfect, reflecting his quiet, thoughtful nature.
Wedding Preparations
Planning a wedding while juggling demanding careers in the medical field was no easy task. Gian, still in his senior year of Internal Medicine residency, and his bride, already a practicing internist, barely had time to breathe, let alone meet with suppliers. But they made it work because they knew this was a once-in-a-lifetime moment.
Despite the chaos, the day arrived with a bit of uncertainty—the weather forecast predicted rain—but her one wish that day was simple: that it wouldn’t rain while she walked down the aisle. When the moment came, the skies cleared, and she walked toward the man she had always been meant to be with.
The Wedding
Their wedding day was the culmination of a dream she had carried in her heart for years. She had envisioned a timeless celebration of love, and their wedding embodied that vision perfectly. They chose St. Benedict Parish for its elegance and peaceful atmosphere, an ideal backdrop for a day that would change their lives forever.
She wore a serpentina gown that sparkled in the soft light of the church, while Gian looked every bit the classic gentleman in a blue three-piece suit. Their mothers, their strongest supporters, wore shades of red, a symbol of their unshakable love for them. The entire day was a reflection of the love and commitment they shared.
A Surreal Moment
The day was everything they dreamed of and more. It was surreal—too perfect, almost. It wasn’t the absence of obstacles that made it unforgettable, but how they faced them together. Whether it was the unpredictable rain or the whirlwind of planning, they learned that no challenge was too great when they stood side by side.
Their story serves as a reminder that no matter the detours or delays, what’s destined for you will always find its way to you. For them, that love has only just begun. And it’s the beginning of a lifetime of beautiful moments, together.

WE Tips for a Stunning Red-Themed Wedding
A red-themed wedding represents passion, romance, and timeless elegance. Here are some tips to create a harmonious and unforgettable celebration:
Choose the Right Shade of Red
Red comes in various shades, from bold scarlet to deep burgundy. Select a hue that complements your overall aesthetic and the season. Bright reds work well for summer, while deeper tones suit autumn or winter weddings.
Balance with Neutrals and Metallics
To avoid overwhelming the space, pair red with neutral tones like ivory, white, or blush. Incorporate metallic accents, such as gold or rose gold, to add a touch of glamour.
Elegant Floral Arrangements
Roses, dahlias, and carnations are classic choices for a red-themed wedding. Mix red blooms with greenery or softer colors for dimension and balance in your bouquets and centerpieces.
Thoughtful Attire Choices
Brides can opt for a white gown with red accents, like embroidery or a sash. Bridesmaids in varying shades of red create depth, while groomsmen can wear red ties or boutonnieres.
Ambient Lighting
Use warm, romantic lighting such as candles, chandeliers, or fairy lights to enhance the dramatic effect of red decor.
A red-themed wedding, when tastefully executed, will leave a lasting impression on your guests.
