Featuring Earl Norbert V. Popatco and Ma. Beatrice F. Salapantan
In a time of uncertainty, fear, and panic, we found peace in each other. When the world seemed to stand still, we created a world that was just ours, envisioning a future we would one day share openly with those we love. We had long prayed for the day when we could finally come home to one another, finding true solace in each other’s presence. There were no shows to run, no planes to catch—just us, resting and reveling in the love we knew so well.
Our wedding was the realization of dreams we had often discussed over FaceTime. We went from wondering when we could hug each other and be closer than six feet apart to sharing smiles—no masks in sight—and giving warm embraces to all 356 guests who celebrated with us. It was a beautiful reminder that, in God’s timing, everything falls into place.
We often imagined our wedding, talking about walking down the aisle to the tunes of Coldplay. Hearing those songs play in the church felt surreal. Despite not knowing what each other looked like, we found each other instantly in a sea of people.
As we walked toward one another and the altar, everything else became a blur. We could hardly believe that the day we had dreamt about was finally unfolding. It wasn’t until the priest announced us as husband and wife that we turned around to see the church filled with people. It was overwhelming—an incredible mix of joy and excitement—that those we cherished stood behind us as we committed to forever.
During the reception, sitting amidst our loved ones, we saw each and every face. We shared laughs and tears, feeling the genuine happiness radiating from our friends and family. It was no longer just Bea or Earl; from then on, it was Bea and Earl. Our families laughed, shared drinks, and danced together as if they had always been part of the same family.
The day was a tribute to what made us unique as individuals and special as a couple. Though we could not be more different, our love was the constant that got us through the pandemic, a love deeper than we ever imagined possible.
Our wedding was a celebration of love, acceptance, peace, and answered prayers. It showed how weddings unite people from all corners of the world, bringing them together to celebrate what truly matters: family and choosing to love each other every single day.
