Featuring Walter Uy and Ruth Elizabeth Talag
“Maraming tumanda kakahintay.” Laughter echoed through the small, cozy church nestled in a posh Makati village as Ruth Elizabeth—radiant in her elegant white gown—began her vows with these heartfelt words. The air was thick with joy as friends and family, who had eagerly awaited this moment for years, gathered to witness this long-anticipated union.
Walter and Ruth’s wedding was not just a celebration of their love but a testament to their journey together. As Rev. Noah Kennedy officiated the ceremony, his poignant sermon on God’s boundless agape love set a deeply spiritual tone for the day. The scripture Walter chose to quote, “When the time is right, I the Lord will make it happen,” perfectly encapsulated their belief in divine timing and commitment.
Their story began in 2013 when Ruth first met the humble Walter through the Junior Chamber International (JCI). While their initial encounter didn’t spark a love story, fate had other plans. By 2016, their professional collaboration blossomed into a deep friendship, which soon evolved into a romance that would last eight beautiful years. On June 12, 2024—Independence Day in their home country—the couple took a significant step, declaring their dependence on God as they embarked on their marital journey. The sunny June day seemed like a celestial endorsement of their bright future together.
Walter, a bundle of nerves and sincerity, reviewed his vows before the ceremony. His heartfelt words, delivered with a blend of earnestness and emotion, moved everyone present, leaving not a dry eye in the church and undoubtedly provoking the emotional toasts that followed.
As Ruth made her way down the aisle of The Church of the Holy Trinity, she was a vision in her Banggo Niu wedding dress. The intricate serpentine design, strapless cut, and voluminous train were so breathtaking that it nearly sparked a fashion revolution among the guests.
A touching tribute to Walter’s mother was an important highlight of the day. A special seat was reserved for her, honoring her memory and presence in spirit. This beautiful gesture brought tears to even the toughest of guests, a powerful reminder that love transcends time and space.
Outside the church, Walter and Ruth shared their first kiss as newlyweds amid cheers and applause. The kiss was so sweet, it felt like it could have given everyone within a mile radius a sugar high.
The wedding also featured a whimsical touch—a photo-realistic European backdrop courtesy of Team OSS “On Site Studio.” This clever addition transported guests to a European dreamscape without the hassle of travel, adding an enchanting and creative flair to the celebration. It was like experiencing a European honeymoon without leaving the reception hall.
Despite having only two months to prepare, Walter and Ruth embraced the challenge with enthusiasm. Their wedding was a true reflection of their personalities—personal, sophisticated, and practical.
A tender moment occurred when Walter, to the tune of Phil Collins’ “You’ll Be in My Heart,” shared a heartfelt embrace with his 92-year-old grandmother.
The celebration was a perfect blend of simplicity and elegance, mirroring the couple’s journey and their commitment to each other. It was a truly wonderful day, honoring their past and celebrating the blessed years ahead.
