Up and coming makeup artists Jyka Espinoza is known for having a light touch when applying makeup on her clients who book her for her signature “lit-from-within” skin look. To get the look, Jyka does a ritualistic skin prep on her brides before putting on any makeup products on their face.
“I put face masks to refresh the skin and get that glow, as well as eye masks to de-puff sleep-deprived eyes. I take time to massage the skin to help increase blood circulation for that natural flush.”
“My advise to brides will be to build their skincare routine as early as possible and to do it religiously. Any makeup will glide on smoothly and flawlessly on well-taken care of skin. Also, treatments like facial or waxing should be done at least a week prior to the wedding in case irritation and redness occurs.”
Jyka usually does makeup for celebrities, photo shoots, and television. But she confesses that doing makeup for brides is like taking a break.
“My favorite part about doing bridal makeup are the stories told during makeup sessions—love stories. I get to see love being celebrated, and everyone beaming with happiness and radiating love, it is an experience I cannot compare with any other.”
