Featuring designs by Albert Andrada, Michael Leyva, Marlon Tuazon, and Jo Rubio
In celebration of the City of Manila’s foundation on June 24, a fashion show was held last June 20 at Bulwagang Rodriguez in Manila City Hall. As Mayor Honey Lacuna mentioned in her speech, Manila was known for its many streets such as Tabora and Ilaya for selling fabrics while Escolta and Malate areas were also frequently visited to have clothes made. So it was only apt that a fashion show would be part of the City of Manila’s celebrations.
“The goal is to promote Manila’s fashion industry and cultural heritage, as well as to provide a platform for local designers to showcase their talent and creativity,” according to the press release.
More than half of the show featured bridal gowns by Michael Leyva, Puey Quiñones, Jo Rubio, and Albert Andrada, with Bang Pineda as the show’s creative director. Here are some of our top picks.
“We are thrilled to present Rampa Manila in the City of Manila. This fashion show is a testament of our commitment to promote our city’s rich cultural heritage and vibrant fashion industry. We are proud to showcase the talents of our local designers and to provide them with an opportunity to present their collections to a wider audience,” shares Mayor Honey Lacuna.
“We are excited to see the creative vision of our designers come to life on the runway. Rampa Manila is not just a fashion show, but a celebration of our city’s vibrant culture and heritage. We invite everyone to come and experience the beauty and artistry of Philippine fashion,” said City Tourism Head Charlie Dungo.
