It was actually a surprise, too!

When bankers Ronna Jen Uy-Cañete and Anthony B. Cañete got married last May 15, 2021, little did Ronna’s two grandmothers know that they had a special role on the couple’s intimate wedding. Held at Sagradao Corazon Nazareno Parish in Tagum City, Davao del Norte, the couple asked Ronna’s paternal grandmother Lola Estrella and maternal grandmother Lola Nena to walk as flower girls that day.

“Since surprise po sya, sa wedding na po nila nalaman, na gulat po sila, at masaya rin sila sa gagawin nila dahil first time po nila. And ako ang unang apo na ikinasal (Since it was a surprise, they only found out during the wedding. They were surprised but they were also happy to find out because it was their first time to do so. I’m their first grandchild to get married),” Ronna tells Wedding Essentials.

Even the rest of the family members were happy to see the grandmothers walk the aisle. “Happy po ang lahat. Yun ang importante sa amin (They’re all happy. That’s what’s important),” adds Ronna.
