Filipinos are known over the world to be remarkably creative and talented. For #WENewandNovel, we found a precious gem in the beautiful city of Cebu–budding event stylist Dave Banglos.
Proud Siquijor Native
Dave Banglos grew up in Siquijor with a passion for arranging flowers. Even as a child, he would always find himself artfully arranging flowers for his teacher’s table, decorating their classroom and their home. During Christmas, he would look for a tree trunk, wrap it in crepe paper and hang Christmas cards in lieu of Christmas ornaments.
Fast forward to high school, he started volunteering at their local parish to handle flower arrangements during fiestas. He did not know that his love for flowers would take him to different parts of the country.
Rising Event Stylist
Dave found himself working for a Cebu resort brand as a banquet service waiter. His talent was discovered when he was helping one of the employees decorating the swimming pool with floating flowers. And since then, he was assigned to handle simple decorations from table centerpieces to flower arrangement for events.
The Siquijor native rose through the ranks in his more than two decades of service. He started as a food service associate before he eventually found his true calling as the resort’s events stylist. His style speaks of simplicity and elegance yet clean and chic at the same time.
He has numerous weddings and private events under his belt, including working closely with famous event stylist and event coordinators. His attention to detail, especially when it comes to the event styling, won him Sunstar Cebu’s Best of Cebu 2016 – Best Booth Award and recipient of Cebu Goes Culinary 2005 Table Setting – Gold Winner.
Photography is one of Dave’s many talents. His critical eye also made him an excellent photographer under the tutelage of the masters in the field like the esteemed George Tapan and G-nie Arambulo.
