KC and Doods’ Luxe Vivid Wedding

When KC started planning her wedding, just like any bride, she turned to Pinterest to look for visual pegs. She had a clear vision in mind using strong aesthetics and bold colors but was concerned with packing so many colors into the décor and entourage wardrobe that it could end up looking tacky and incohesive. Luckily, she was guided in the right direction by events planner, La Belle Fete who helped her conceptualize and organize a team of suppliers to come up with an event styling using jewel tones, black and white with hints of gold finishing but with proper restraint. The result is a Technicolor dream come true that’s vivid, posh, and luxe.

The ceremony was held at the iconic Basilica Menor De San Sebastian in Quiapo, Manila. The picturesque décor of the church with its grand stained glass windows, gilded altar, antique crystal chandeliers, and black and white Machuca tile flooring was the perfect backdrop for the dramatic bridal march and wedding ceremony.

The best features of the jewel box-like venue and the reaction of the guests, as well as the couple’s two boys, were lovingly captured by Oly Ruiz of Metrophoto and Lula Films.

When it came to choosing a designer for KC’s bridal gown, no other person comes to mind but esteemed designer Mak Tumang. KC shares, “I went to Mak Tumang for my gown since he is a maximalist. I had been stalking his IG long before he became a household name and I went to him even before Catriona Gray won Miss Universe.” For KC, it was paramount to find a designer with the same aesthetics as hers. Apart from design and execution, the quality of work was very important to the bride. “It’s one thing to draw a design on paper and another thing to actually execute the design. I’ve seen many designs that looked great on paper but not in real life,” she adds.

The piece de resistance was a one-of-a-kind off-the-shoulder ballgown with sheer sleeves decorated with vinelike appliques. The bodice down to the skirt was embellished with 3D floral accents, individually stitched lace appliques, micro-crystals, pearlized sequins, and delicate ostrich feathers.

Her spectacular train was a sight to behold as each scalloped segment was delicately embroidered with floral motifs. The bride completed her princess ensemble with a bridal tiara, a pair of diamond stud earrings and a pair of blue satin Manolo Blahniks.

She clutched a beautiful bouquet of multi-colored flowers as she walked towards her groom who cut an elegant figure in his classic black and white tuxedo by Edwin Valerio.

If attention to detail was the bride’s strongest suit, then she definitely displayed this skill in picking out the ensembles of her bridesmaids. Initially clad in matching aquamarine robes, the bride squad veered away from the event’s dominant color scheme.

Here was where restraint was exercised: Instead of going for jewel tones, the ladies donned individually designed pink frocks with lots fringe for something cohesive yet fun and modern.

Guests were then ushered into the spacious ballroom of the Conrad Manila for the reception. An opulent mix of bold colors and detailed textures greeted the guests as they entered the space. Pretty pastels had to take a backseat as each curated element from the floral arrangement down to the warm glow of the lighting came together to form a plush environment that was distinct and luxurious.

Months of planning came together with the right people and a strong team, and KC and Doods’ wedding unfolded beautifully like their bespoke origami-inspired invites from Papillon Ph.

When asked about their favorite part of the wedding, KC recounts “Our favorite thing about our wedding apart from being wedded to each other is really the coming together and seeing most of our closest family and friends, especially the elderly ones who were not so fit but really made an effort to be on our special day.  My husband and I also love the idea that we were able to share this with our two sons, a six-year-old and a two-year-old.”
