Antonio MNL: Crafting modern heirlooms for the discerning gentleman

In the world of men’s footwear, Tina Andres of Antonio Mnl brings a refreshing blend of heritage, intention, and modern sensibility. A fourth-generation shoemaker, Tina’s journey was not one she initially planned, but ultimately, one she was destined to embrace.

“I began my career in a completely different industry,” she shares, “but life eventually led me back to shoemaking.” What started as a leap into the unfamiliar soon became a calling.

In 2012, she launched Gibson Kids, crafting leather shoes for children, where she honed both her design sensibilities and leadership skills. Over time, her vision evolved, leading her to pursue men’s footwear inspired by the late Marikina designer Rico Sta. Ana.

“We developed a concept of what a gentleman’s shoe should be in modern times,” she says, confidently redefining tradition through a contemporary lens.

Her recent collaboration with VIKTOR, a brand known for their incredible leather jackets and customized denim pieces, marked a milestone. Both known for their leather craftsmanship, the partnership was a natural fit.

“Seeing their pieces paired with the shoes we made was so inspiring, it really motivated me to do even more refined pieces,” Tina reflects.

The collection’s debut at Manila Fashion Week affirmed her place in the evolving fashion landscape.

At the heart of her process is a thoughtful balance between creativity and precision. “It’s during the final fitting that the shoe really comes to life,” she explains. “That’s when you see how it moves, how it fits, and how it works with someone’s style.” For Tina, each pair carries meaning, especially for grooms.

Through every step, Tina Andres and her team continues to craft not just shoes, but stories grounded in legacy and purpose.

“I want him to feel empowered on his big day,” she says. The Antonio Manila groom, she adds, is “a modern-day gentleman, who understands that the right shoes are an expression of one’s character.”
