Childhood crushes rarely end up in marriage but that’s exactly what happened to triple Grammy award winner, Chance the Rapper (Chancelor Jonathan Bennett) and his wife Kirsten Corley. They tied the knot on March 9, 2018 at the luxurious Pelican Hill Resort in Newport Beach, California in front of 150 guests including celebrities such as Kim Kardashian and husband, Kanye West.

On Monday, the Chicago-born rapper took to Instagram to share the first pictures from their romantic Saturday nuptials with a caption that simply says “The Bennetts”. The ceremony took place at the resort’s iconic rotunda with sweeping views of the Pacific Ocean. In-house floral and event designer Nisie Vorachard designed the all-white floral arrangements seen at the venue. White roses and orchids in tall glass vases mounted on mirrored stands lined the petal-filled aisle while the rotunda’s classic domed structure was decorated with more flowers and billowing white curtains to add to the fairytale look of the event.

She was a vision in her corseted strapless ballgown with a sweetheart neckline embellished with delicate lace appliques by famed Israeli designer Galia Lahav. The bride looked glowing in her natural makeup and soft romantic updo by stylists Yolanda Trejo and Renee. The groom, on the other hand, looked dapper in his suit comprising of a white tuxedo jacket and well-cut black trousers. He finished his ensemble with a black bow tie.

A few days before the wedding, the groom shared a photo of a child Kirsten and took to Twitter to share a story on how they met. The story has gone viral as he revealed he initially met her when he was nine at his mother’s office party in 2003. At the party, a group of young girls performed a number by Destiny’s Child. According to his Twitter post, he said, “I was just staring at her; as she and her girls were conquering this choreography and mastering the art of lip-syncing in a way even the most professional performers have yet to accomplish”. The couple has a three-year-old daughter named Kensli who was also present at the event. They had a civil ceremony in December of last year. In his tweet, he wrote: “I knew I was gonna marry that girl. And I ain’t wanna jump the gun. So I shook my head with anxiety, moved to the back of the crowd and never even introduced myself. 16 years later it’s happening. This [weekend] is the time, and the place is my wedding. I’m gonna dance with my wife because this is my destiny.”
