Woven for love: How Kandama makes weddings more meaningful

Weddings are more than just ceremonies—they are declarations of love, culture, and community. Kandama Collective offers couples and guests a unique way to celebrate all three. Founded by TOYM and Siklab awardee Victor Baguilat Jr. in 2016, this social enterprise uplifts indigenous women weavers from Julongan village in Kiangan, Ifugao, while preserving the ancestral craft of handloom weaving.

Kandama’s handwoven textiles which are rich in story, tradition, and soul, can be tailored into stunning gowns, barongs, or even modern wedding accents. Whether worn by the bride, the groom, or wedding guests, each Kandama piece becomes a living heirloom: a symbol of unity not only between two people, but between generations, cultures, and communities.

Rooted in sustainability and empowerment, Kandama garments are co-created with the women of Julongan, who now run their own weaving organization. Every thread supports livelihoods, protects the rice terraces, and carries the pride of a people.

From local celebrations to runways in New York and Paris, Kandama connects tradition with contemporary elegance. For couples who want their special day to reflect deeper values, wearing Kandama is not just a style choice—it’s a love letter to heritage and humanity.

Kandama invites you to support Indigenous artistry and community empowerment at its Benefit Fashion Show, Weave It to Life, on July 27, 2025, at The Manila Hotel.

The event aims to raise funds for the Julongan Weaving Center in Kiangan, Ifugao—a hub that will preserve traditional weaving and uplift Indigenous women. Founded by Victor Baguilat Jr., Kandama blends heritage with modern fashion to champion cultural sustainability. Guests can expect a powerful evening of fashion, culture, and purpose.

Join Kandama in weaving a future rooted in dignity and tradition.
