Featuring Nikko Remigio and Maureen Schrijvers
Nikko and Maureen’s story began not with grand gestures, but with shared discipline.
Introduced, almost playfully, by their coach during training in California, the two athletes first noticed each other in passing. Focused on their respective goals, romance took a backseat until fate intervened on a freeway, where a chance encounter sparked a conversation that would change everything.

That same day stretched into hours…sunset, dinner, a movie, neither wanting it to end. From then on, they were inseparable.

Months later, Nikko proposed in Laguna Beach in October 2024. What Maureen thought was a documentary shoot turned into a deeply personal moment. Barefoot on the sand at sunset, she found herself face to face with a nervous Nikko dropping to one knee.

“It was so memorable because he did it exactly how he knew I would want to,” she shared. “No fuss… just him and me at the beach.” The intimacy of the proposal, followed by a heartfelt family dinner, set the tone for everything that followed.

Their wedding unfolded as a true reflection of who they are; intentional, unconventional, and deeply personal. Already married in a civil ceremony a year prior, Maureen chose to walk down the aisle alone.

“I didn’t want to be repetitive… it gave me that moment to just really take in seeing my husband on the aisle,” she explained. It was a powerful, undistracted moment, just her and Nikko, exactly as she envisioned.

Set against the relaxed beauty of an island, Maureen embraced her authentic self fully…barefoot, grounded, and free.
“I feel more free barefoot… people that know me just knew that this is so me,” she said.

Even her gown echoed this philosophy: timeless yet undone, romantic yet effortless. Every detail, from her look to the artistic approach of her photographers, was thoughtfully curated to feel natural and true.

The celebration continued with a reception stripped of excess and filled with meaning. With only their closest loved ones present, the focus was simple: Connection.

“I wanted to enjoy the food with my guests… and really just focus on having fun,” Maureen shared.

Their first dance mirrored quiet moments at home. Unrehearsed, intimate, and genuine.

In every choice they made, Nikko and Maureen proved that the most beautiful weddings are not defined by tradition, but by truth.
