The engagement of Kenny Uy and Joyce Ong
For Kenny and Joyce, planning their Ting Hun began with a simple question: How can we honor tradition while still being ourselves?
From the very beginning, they agreed to create a celebration that felt bright, happy, and true to their personalities. “We wanted the event to be easy on the eyes and welcoming despite the early 9 AM start,” Joyce shared.

Inspired by the Amalfi Coast, they filled the day with soft yellows and blues, elevated with chinoiserie patterns as a nod to their Chinese roots.
Ting Huns are naturally family-centered, but Kenny and Joyce found personal expression through their attire.

“I knew I wanted my suit made by Common Suits,” Kenny said. “Every detail, from the laser measurements to the thread colors, made me feel my best.” Joyce, on the other hand, embraced bold tradition. “I wanted bright red—how many chances do we get to wear it?” she laughed. With Ms. Vee Tan bringing her vision to life, Joyce walked the aisle backwards in a dramatic gown with a glorious long train. “Everyone said it was a work of art.”

When it came to tradition, the couple was grateful for Tinghun Tris. “We didn’t know all the customs or their meanings,” Kenny admitted.

Achi Camille and her team ensured everything, from the backward entrance to the token exchange and tea ceremony, flowed seamlessly. Joyce added, “It was such fun experiencing how it feels to be ‘married’ Chinese style.”
Their host, Dr. Jerome Go, kept the energy high, proving that even a morning celebration can be lively and heartfelt.

Food, for them, symbolized joy. Choosing a lauriat-style menu allowed guests to interact and enjoy each dish together. Lobster, duck, lapu-lapu, abalone, and black chicken soup created a comforting spread that felt festive and abundant. “Prosperity is everyone smiling, eating, and having a good time,” they said.

For their families, they wanted the day to be stress-free. “Let them savor the moment,” Joyce shared. With Amady capturing every bright and genuine moment, and with the unforgettable scent of real lemons used by iMajic filling the room, the celebration remains vivid in everyone’s memory.
As Joyce beautifully put it, “It felt bittersweet when it ended because everything was just so beautiful.”

WE Tip:
When planning your Ting Hun menu, remember that every dish carries meaning. Staples like lapu-lapu symbolize harmony, duck represents loyalty, noodles signify long life, and sweet desserts bless the couple with joy ahead. Choose dishes that honor tradition while also delighting your guests, because in every Ting Hun, food is more than a meal; it’s a wish for prosperity, unity, and a beautiful beginning.
