Featuring Robert Vergel de Dios and Marie Garcia
Robert and Marie’s story began in a spontaneous trip that would change both their lives. Robbie had decided to leave his job and join his friend Jason on a last-minute getaway to Tulum, Mexico.
Marie, who was performing DJ sets with Robbie’s friend Jason, at the time, met Robbie amid the vibrant energy of the city. What started as casual conversations quickly turned into something deeper.

“We connected so effortlessly,” Marie recalls. “It felt like we’d known each other much longer than we actually had.”

Under Tulum’s starlit skies, they found comfort, chemistry, and a sense of familiarity that neither expected. When they returned home, every photo from the trip seemed to capture that unspoken bond.

“Looking back, it was so clear, Tulum had brought us together for a reason,” she adds.

Three years later, that reason revealed itself fully.
The proposal unfolded in a quiet, deeply personal way. Marie was in Manila for work when Robbie decided to fly in. “Little did I know, his real reason for coming was to ask my father for my hand,” she shares.

He planned the proposal for September 20, the exact day they first met. In her childhood bedroom, surrounded by memories of her earliest years, Robbie knelt and asked her to be his wife. “It was simple, heartfelt, and filled with tears. A moment I’ll treasure forever.”

Their decision to return to Tulum for the wedding felt natural, a full-circle moment. The ceremony was intimate and sincere, shaped by meaningful touches and the people who mattered most. Marie walked down the aisle to “Woman” by Mumford & Sons, a song that has always reminded Robbie of her.

Honoring her late mother was one of Marie’s deepest intentions. “I wanted her presence to be felt in every way possible,” she says. A seat was reserved for her, adorned with a fascinator she would have loved and a poem printed on linen. Marie also carried a small charm with her mother’s photo in her bouquet.

The reception embraced understated elegance, inspired by the organic beauty of Tulum; linen canopies, a single candlelit table, and soft, refined details in stone, lilies, Amaranthus, and marble.

A short program of heartfelt messages was followed by a special DJ set by Natalia, Marie’s daughter, who performed with Robbie to open the dance floor.

Looking back, Marie sums up the day in one word: dreamy. But one moment stands above all, the vows Robbie shared not only with her, but with Natalia. “There wasn’t a dry eye,” Marie says. “It was the moment we truly became a family.”
