Mak Tumang celebrates home at Tadhana 2025 | Runway photos by Brian Lucas-Reyes

Mak Tumang’s journey to fashion greatness was far from a fairytale. From watching his grandmother sew dresses and curtains to designing costumes for school plays, his fascination with fashion began early. Yet, he initially took a different path, pursuing Production Design at De La Salle–College of Saint Benilde, driven by his love for grand visuals. It was only under the mentorship of fashion designer Eric Pineda that Mak rediscovered his true calling.

Embracing his revived passion, he immersed himself in fashion shows, exhibitions, and competitions, determined to make his mark despite doubts and discouragement from others.

Through perseverance, Mak built his name in the industry, earning acclaim for his elaborate, couture creations that blend sophistication, luxury, and sensuality. His signature style, defined by intricate embroidery, crystal embellishments, and delicate lacework, has graced countless editorials and red carpets, including Miss Universe 2018 Catriona Gray’s now-iconic “lava gown.”

Each piece from his atelier tells a story of artistry and confidence, embodying what he calls the “Mak Tumang woman”—feminine, empowered, and timeless.
It’s a proud homecoming for Tadhana as one of its first young designers returns, now as Tadhana 2025’s Master Designer. A decade after his first runway, Mak stands as a global symbol of Filipino creativity.

His latest bridal collection, An Ode to the Motherland, is a love letter to the Philippines, each piece shimmering like waves kissed by sunlight.
Today, Mak isn’t just designing gowns. He’s celebrating home.
