Not all love stories begin with grand gestures, some start quietly, in places you’d never imagine. For Nico and Jocel, it was 2018 in a gym, a space for building strength, yet what they found was something far greater.
“From the moment we met, there was a spark, instant, undeniable, and quietly powerful,” Jocel shared.
Their first date at Pinto Art Museum set the tone for their journey: surrounded by beauty and calm, their connection unfolded naturally. Conversations flowed easily, laughter came effortlessly, and a rare bond began to take root. “It felt like coming home,” Jocel recalled.
From that moment on, their story became one of shared dreams, unwavering support, and a love that only grew deeper with time.
Years later, just before their move to Sydney, Nico planned a simple yet unforgettable proposal on the sands of Boracay. Before a sandcastle that spelled out the words every bride dreams of “Will you marry me”, he asked the question that would forever change their lives.
“It was simple, beautiful, and perfect. A moment I’ll never forget,” Jocel said.
Their wedding plans took unexpected turns, as their original 2023 date gave way to a new chapter in Sydney. Though the road wasn’t easy, they held on to faith.
“At the time, we didn’t understand why things didn’t go the way we hoped, but now, we see it clearly. God was preparing something greater,” Jocel reflected.
On their 7th anniversary, inside the breathtaking Saint Mary’s Cathedral, their prayers were answered. Jocel walked down the aisle with an elegant bouquet of calla lilies, as the couple embraced Filipino traditions of veil, cord, and candle, symbols of unity and faith that rooted them to home even in a foreign land.
Their reception at Doltone House Hyde Park was warm and intimate, filled with soft pastel florals and the laughter of loved ones who traveled from across the world to celebrate with them.
“At first, we thought we’d skip the reception,” Jocel admitted. “But with our family and friends flying in, we knew we had to celebrate. It turned out to be the perfect gathering.”
When asked to sum up their wedding day in one word, Jocel’s answer was simple: Magical.
“It was a dream turned into reality…proof that love, guided by faith, always finds its way.”
