The engagement of Timothy Phua and Tracy Dacay
For Timothy Phua and Tracy Dacay, their Ting Hun was more than just a ceremony, it was a heartfelt blend of tradition and individuality. While they wanted to honor every custom, they also sought to weave in details that reflected their love story and personalities.

“For us, blending tradition with our own style meant honoring the heart of the Ting Hun while adding details that reflected who we are as a couple,” Tracy shared.
The couple embraced every ritual, from the meaningful exchange of gifts to the touching tea ceremony. “It was important for us to honor the customs not just for ourselves but also for our families, who deeply value these traditions,” Timothy said.

Yet even while keeping tradition intact, they found ways to make the day uniquely theirs.
Tracy first wore a striking red gown by Karen Olano during the preparations, then changed into a sparkly pink gown by Patricia Santos for the ceremony, its delicate oriental floral embroidery nodding to heritage while celebrating her joyful spirit.

Every detail carried meaning, even the food. The couple worked closely with their families to curate a menu rich in symbolism; misua noodles for long life, roast pig for abundance, and pigeon for fidelity and prosperity.
“Food is such an important part of the Ting Hun because every dish carries a meaning,” Tracy explained. “For us, it was about balancing tradition with food that everyone loved.”
Family moments also made the day unforgettable. Tracy’s nephew led a playful countdown before the couple could see each other, a simple yet touching addition.

Personalized giveaways of Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory treats added sweetness to the day, while the Manila Philharmonic Orchestra filled the air with music that has accompanied many of their family’s milestones.
A grazing table by Homeground, complete with cheese and cocktails, delighted guests and set the tone for a joyful celebration, even though it began in the morning.

Thanks to their coordinator, Tinghun Tris, the event flowed effortlessly into an after-party with friends that lasted until evening.
Looking back, Timothy and Tracy feel grateful that their Ting Hun not only respected tradition but also celebrated who they are together.
As Tracy puts it, “We wanted the day to honor where we came from while celebrating where we’re headed—and that balance made it truly unforgettable.”
