Featuring Jay Pineda and Pia Alarcon

Jay Pineda and Pia Alarcon’s wedding was a celebration that reflected their love, personalities, and the life they’ve built together. Unconventional, intimate, and filled with personal touches, their wedding was an experience uniquely their own.

Their love story began in 2017 when a common friend invited Jay to Pia’s office despedida at a bar in BGC. They instantly clicked and became close, bonding over late-night hangouts with their friends. Eventually, coffee dates—without the alcohol—became their thing, and by June of that year, they were officially a couple.

When Jay proposed, he knew that grand gestures weren’t Pia’s style. He had already secured her parents’ blessing over dinner before their Japan trip, and in October 2023, at a bar in Osaka, he simply popped the question—no theatrics, just love.

Pia’s love for black influenced their wedding’s aesthetic. She manages to make the color a staple in her wardrobe, so a black-themed wedding felt natural. It symbolized timeless elegance, and to maintain uniformity, everyone was dressed in black. Jay, favoring suits over barongs, opted for a black suit and tie, while Pia carried two bouquets—red Ecuadorian roses and orchids—because why settle for one when you’re celebrating twice?

Their wedding was deeply personal. Pia, a fashion design graduate from Benilde, designed both of her wedding gowns, a dream she had since college. Jay, who works for a lighting company, made sure the reception lighting matched Pia’s vision. She wore heirloom jewelry from her late grandmother, which had been given to her just before the wedding, adding sentimental value to the occasion.

Tagaytay was an easy choice for their venue. It was their go-to weekend escape, a place where they felt at ease. Their favorite restaurant, Kai, catered their reception, and Elias Brewery, a staple in their night-outs, provided craft beers. A beer pong table even made an appearance, a nod to Jay’s love for the game.

Their wedding’s most memorable moments came from its relaxed and fun atmosphere. The church ceremony was an intimate family affair, while the garden thanksgiving mass allowed them to celebrate with friends. They skipped traditional elements like first looks, bouquet tosses, and cake cutting in favor of pure enjoyment. They even took an unexpected post-wedding detour to Nanay Dorie’s for their favorite bulalo, sharing a simple yet meaningful meal with their family.

Through it all, Jay and Pia’s wedding was an extension of who they are—a couple who values quality time, embraces spontaneity, and believes that the best celebrations are those filled with love, laughter, and a whole lot of fun.
