Vin and Abie’s Celestial Love Story

Featuring Vin Li and Abie Tan

Vin Li and Abie Tan’s love story blossomed from the unlikely backdrop of a construction site. It all started when Abie, an architect, posted on Facebook seeking a swimming pool contractor. Vin, a contractor, responded, and their first meeting was during an ocular visit to Abie’s residential project. Though Vin didn’t get the project, a year-long friendship grew virtually on social media throughout the pandemic. Eventually, they reunited in person, not for work but for their first date at Nabe Hotpot, Banawe—a significant step in turning their professional connection into something much deeper.

For their wedding, Vin and Abie embraced a Northern Lights theme, a testament to their shared dream of witnessing the Aurora Borealis together someday. Their bond began when they discovered this common travel aspiration, symbolizing the alignment of stars in their relationship. The color scheme featured hues of sage green, midnight blue, and other shades mirroring the sky lit by the Northern Lights, creating a celestial ambiance.

Each wedding detail carried personal significance. Abie’s bridal gown and her entourage’s sage green gowns had wavy patterns reflecting the shimmering waves of the aurora. Vin’s midnight blue tuxedo, along with the male entourage’s lighter blue suits and sage green ties, enhanced the theme. Their cake mirrored these waves, and the couple personalized items from shoes to perfumes, with their wedding monogram signifying their journey ahead. Even the perfume choice was sentimental, so they could relive the memories each time they wore it in the future.

Adding a playful touch, the couple created a trivia game for guests, sharing unique details about their relationship. Beyond this, their friends and family surprised them with bachelor and bachelorette parties, heartfelt gifts, and endless support, making the day more meaningful than they had imagined. Despite delays in the schedule, from extended photo sessions to longer-than-expected speeches, each moment only enriched the experience. Nearly all guests stayed late into the night, showing their love by staying until the end.

Vin and Abie’s wedding was filled with personal touches—from songs chosen with care to a custom lauriat menu of family favorites. Uniquely, the couple hired local cartoonists from the Samahang Kartunista ng Pilipinas to sketch guests for souvenirs, supporting artists they admired. A handmade Polaroid booth, a surprise gift from Abie’s friend, added charm, while a show kitchen performance of “Be Our Guest” welcomed everyone. This celebration, filled with warmth and authenticity, truly reflected Vin and Abie’s love, creativity, and their shared future under the stars.
