Featuring Michael “Mike” Patrick Francisco Cruz and Patricia “Patricia” Marie Yu Cruz
Michael “Mike” Patrick Francisco Cruz and Patricia “Patricia” Marie Yu Cruz’s love story began quietly, rooted in the simple magic of serendipity. It was 2016, and Patricia had declared it her “Yes Year,” embracing new experiences and friendships with an open heart. Just as she was ready to bring this chapter to a close, a friend’s birthday party changed everything. Drawn by the barbecue and a playful French bulldog, Patricia met Mike. She will insist those were the main attractions that night—but fate had a different idea, and soon, their connection was undeniable.
Mike and Patricia’s relationship blossomed naturally over the years. Patricia’s lively, extroverted spirit perfectly complemented Mike’s calm, introspective nature. They found common ground in their shared careers in banking and a mutual love for hidden speakeasies in Makati. Slowly but steadily, their bond deepened, built on trust, respect, and understanding.
In November 2021, Mike proposed on the serene shores of Boracay, a place that held special meaning for the couple. After six years of shared experiences, they both knew they were ready to spend their lives together. Their wedding in January 2023 reflected their unique style and deep connection. Held in Tagaytay, a destination close to their hearts, the day was designed to capture the romantic ambiance of their favorite date nights. The ceremony took place at San Antonio de Padua Church, where midnight blue ceilings and twinkling stars set the perfect mood for their theme of teal and midnight hues, accented by rich rust-colored details.
One of the most unforgettable moments of the day was their first dance as husband and wife, set to Michal Leah’s “The Way I Love You.” With their loved ones surrounding them, it felt like the world faded away, leaving just the two of them. As the song ended, a surprise fireworks display lit up the sky—Mike’s only major request for the day. Fireworks held a special place in Patricia’s heart, reminding her of moments shared with her father.
The food was one of the most unforgettable highlights of Mike and Patricia’s wedding as well. Guests raved about it for days, with the prime rib quickly becoming a favorite, especially with Mike’s steak-loving family. But to everyone’s surprise, it was the baked burrata salad that stole the show. The lively atmosphere started even before dinner, as many guests were already in high spirits, turning the pre-dinner wait into a celebration of its own.
Music and dancing played a huge role in the night’s festivities. There was no need for a dance instructor—one of Mike’s cousins led the way, and soon everyone was on the floor: friends, family, even godparents. In a spontaneous twist, some guests tried their hand at breakdancing, while Mike surprised everyone with an impromptu “Magic Mike”-inspired dance to the tune of “Tình tình tang tang,” filling the night with laughter and joy.
The wedding styling was everything Patricia had dreamed of, straight out of her Pinterest board. Phalaenopsis, tulips, roses, and baby’s breath adorned the church and reception, creating a scene that felt like a fairy tale brought to life. As someone who had always paid special attention to flower arrangements at weddings, seeing her own vision come to life was surreal for Patricia
Personal touches made the day even more special for their guests. Mike thoughtfully picked out coloring books to keep the little ones entertained, while mini lemon cakes, matching the flavor of their wedding cake, were served to guests celebrating anniversaries or birthdays that day. These small gestures made everyone feel cherished.
The wedding was also a long-awaited reunion for both families, after the isolation of the pandemic. It was the first big celebration for many of their loved ones. Sadly, some family members have since passed, making the photos and videos from that day even more precious—a lasting reminder of the joy they shared together.
One memorable part of the day came when, on her way to the church, their coordinator, Agnes Odulio from Empire Weddings, informed Patricia that it had started drizzling at the reception venue. With little time to decide, Patricia quickly moved the cocktail setup from the garden to an indoor space. But after the ceremony, the rain miraculously stopped just in time for the reception at Antonio’s. Guests later shared how much they loved the cozy indoor setting, unaware it was a last-minute decision. It turned out to be the perfect choice, adding yet another touch of magic to a day they’ll cherish forever.
