“I first met Thal in Tagaytay during a shoot he did for Wedding Essentials, recommended by my angel Mimma Benz. At first, I thought he was a serious and quiet photographer, but it turns out he’s funny and full of energy. That’s part of his charm.”
Thal Ruin Photography began with a simple yet powerful passion for capturing life’s most meaningful moments. It all started in 2014 when the founder, Crystal Rigor Nacion set out to turn a love for photography into a business, initially working solo.
Over time, the team grew as like-minded, reliable individuals joined the journey, each sharing the same enthusiasm and passion for capturing the beauty of weddings and special occasions. Now, celebrating a decade in the industry, Thal Photography stands as a testament to resilience and creativity.
The heart of Thal Photography lies in its natural approach to storytelling. Their signature style leans towards capturing candid, unguarded moments that reflect the true emotions of their subjects. Whether it’s a tear rolling down a groom’s cheek or the joy in a bride’s eyes, their team is committed to preserving authentic moments that couples can treasure forever. The warm tones they favor in their color grading add a rich, nostalgic feel to their work, though they remain flexible, adjusting their palette based on the mood and atmosphere of each event.
But the journey hasn’t always been easy. Based in Tagaytay, Thal Photography faced significant challenges when the Taal volcano erupted and, shortly after, when the pandemic hit. The local community was deeply affected, and so was the team. With weddings postponed or canceled, and fewer opportunities to work, they were forced to make difficult decisions, including selling off some of their prized photography equipment just to make ends meet. Their office also had to close down. Yet, through faith, perseverance, and the grace of God, they weathered the storm and emerged stronger.
As they look to the future, Thal Photography remains committed to evolving with the ever-changing wedding industry. They acknowledge that trends come and go, but they never lose sight of the timeless fundamentals of wedding photography: capturing genuine moments. Looking ahead, they are excited to continue making couples happy, learning from new experiences, and growing alongside their team. As they celebrate their 10th anniversary, their hope is to continue sharing in life’s most beautiful moments for many more years to come.
