Featuring John Chuakaw and Lorraine Yao
John and I met through a common friend back in 2013. As I was involved in another relationship back then and he was busy pursuing his business ventures, we did not have a chance to really get to know each other. We just acknowledge each other at gatherings.
Things changed in late 2014 when I became single and he inquired about pursuing graduate
studies at my alma mater through my Facebook messenger. We got the chance to communicate regularly almost 24/7 until he asked me out for dinner. I am not sure if his inquiry was a ruse to take me out on a date. Nevertheless, I enjoyed our daily conversations and was interested in getting to know him further.
His reluctance to move past the get-to-know stage for the past few months led to a lot of misunderstandings. I doubted his sincerity during the initial stages whether he wanted the relationship to progress or not, eventually ending our communication in late 2015. I was already in my late 20’s and I was looking for someone who will definitely be my lifetime partner—someone who is transparent and past beyond all those mind-games and sorts.
We lost touch for about six months and I decided to entertain other suitors and he focused more on his business ventures. A simple birthday greeting from John led one thing to another and disregarding my family’s advice on John’s sincerity during our initial stages, I decided to give John another shot and went out with him throughout 2016. Vowing to change his busy ways and seeing his commitment to our relationship, John and I got into a relationship officially on May 15, 2017.
Fast forward after six years together, our love story prevailed as we eventually tied the knot last July 24, 2022. It was definitely God’s plan to have our paths cross, part ways, and eventually be back together with a strong foundation ready to journey into life’s next stage which is marriage.
Our celebration was very intimate with only around 220 guests. We made sure to invite the people close to us and those who have witnessed our 6 years journey together as a couple.
The color motif we chose involved pink and green shades representing opposite colors which creates a perfect contrast when combined together. Like our relationship, John and I have different personalities yet when together we complement each other.
