A Decade of Romanticism: Mikee Andrei

#WEDesignerProfile celebrates a decade of vibrance, romanticism and inclusivity, that is Mikee Andrei. As a female force and creative connoisseur of bridal couture, Mikee revitalizes the effeminate and ethereal energies of a modern day woman’s silhouette to represent her brand while capturing the essence of the new-age brides-to-be. (Words Mark Samson)

Best known for her impeccable craftsmanship using lace, color blocking perfection techniques, and non-conventional approach in wedding gown creation; Mikee Andrei is becoming a formidable name in the runways.

Mikee began her fashion journey after graduation with her swimwear and staple dresses collection prior to venturing in made-to-measure gowns and bridal designs. The fashion industry in itself is a bright and woven world of wonders, where visionary figures are born from every success and failure that walks in and off the runways. As a designer, she charted success was product of her passion and pitfalls. It took a catastrophic life moment to holistically harness her vision to fruition.

“It felt like it was just yesterday when I started to make my first wedding gown for my best friend and an editorial dress for a fashion magazine worn by Tweetie de Leon. Since then, each year became more challenging. My journey has taught me to always challenge myself and cultivate creativity which can be found everywhere, in anything and in anyone. Up to now, I keep learning, growing and thriving.”

Rosalina, Mikee’s grandmother was her very first client and her utmost inspiration and in totality the beauty and differences of women have driven her creativity as well.

“A Mikee Andrei bride is someone who is genuinely happy with how she tells her story. I get life lessons from them too. She is someone who will wear my piece not because I think it would look good on her, but because she feels one with her gown.”

After 10 years, during this pandemic, Mikee has decided to create her new bridal collection she calls Femineity (the quality of being a female).

“I was honestly in the verge of quitting bridal due to this hard situation we are all encountering. It made me rethink and review career decisions, but God has His own ways to tell us to be strong and believe in our dreams.”

“Minimalism and romanticism are what have drawn me to make beautiful pieces ever since. It is also the reason in fact that I decided to come up with this collection “Femineity” because being a woman is closest to my heart.

The collection will be available starting first quarter of 2021, but Mikee continues to do custom pieces. She is venturing into ready-to-wear pieces to also put up with the times. Practicality and style is her utmost thought as well.

The Mikee Andrei brand has grown soundly over the years. Mikee believes in people, she believes in adding value to their lives when they wear her designs. But most of all, Mikee believes in dreams.
