#WERealWeddings featuring DOMINIC A. OANDASAN and MARIA PIA ESTRELLITA T. JOSON

In the planning of weddings, most often than not, the brides-to-be are the ones who are more visible in coordinating the details of the event. In my case, my ex-fiancé now my husband, was the one who was more hands-on in the preparation of our own wedding. He put in his personal time to collaborate with all the suppliers and made sure that every element blended well with the overall look we wanted to have – a simple elegance painted in shades of champagne blending beautifully in the mix of different personalities.

Dominic or Dom to our friends, has a flair for dancing and a charisma that easily brings a crowd to a good time of laughter. He was the inspiration behind the colour motif of the wedding. Dom, like Dom Perignon, was my fine drink to the toast for a new life’s beginning.

The theme injected monochromatic spreads of bronze everywhere in the elements incorporated in the flower arrangements and decors. Bronze to represent strength and endurance in our partnership as a couple. Accents of gold gave a touch of elegance in gowns and suits of our Sponsors and entourage designed by Edwin Tan. Gold was a colour my mom would love to wear in special functions. I lost her a few months before the wedding so the bits of sparkling glitters made us feel like she was present in illumination.

A personalized wedding cord made out of pearls was a conversation piece. It was something I did myself to symbolize a relationship that was formed inside the shells of challenges which eventually grew into a lustrous and finely coloured gem, like the love we vowed to care and keep for the rest of our life.

The reception venue just across the church served a practical purpose as we thought it would be most convenient for guests and family to just take a few steps to the banquet hall rather than negotiate the traffic in Manila.

Cocktails and drinks welcomed guests at the hallway leading to the entrance of the Function Room. We had a whole band of music people in the family of Mico (as he is endearly called by his family), so we did not have to hire professional singers for the occasion. They exceeded guests’ expectations of the afternoon’s reception program with their rendition of favourite love songs in medley arrangement. One surprise of the day was me taking the stage and singing a song I dedicated to my husband. With a lot of courage, I braved it with my song “Two Words”.

The wedding had its minor flaws but we never anyway expect it to be so perfect. Misouts did not matter when after all, everyone was just in a happy mood to celebrate this union with us. Lost relationships were rekindled and family bonds became ever stronger.

Our relationship had a fragile start but we were two different individuals trying to shape ourselves within the concentric layers of life’s ups and downs. Like the pearl, we know that we will go through the challenges and come out stronger as a couple.

It’s imperfectly perfect!
