#WERealWeddings featuring JEANNE ARNOLD TERRONES and RACHELLE A. TERRONES
January 12, 2020, Taal erupted two weeks prior our wedding. Everything was all set and we were just waiting for our wedding day to come. Even after it erupted, we were very sure to marry each other in our dream location. A week before the wedding some of the guests and suppliers started to cancel and having it in Tagaytay was now a blur.
WE asked advise from our family and friends and at that time it was either postpone the wedding or just change the venue. It was very heartbreaking, we were looking forward to getting married there, but nevertheless we just thought that God has a purpose for everything. We prayed and we just felt like God was telling us to just let it go and trust Him.
We just let go of the idea not to get married there, but us being wed, that was solid. At the back of our minds, we were still hopeful of having our dream wedding. Days past, we found a new venue, one that was safer but there was no church in that area that officiates on a Sunday. Another challenge that we just lifted to God. The hunt for a church began, and by the grace of God, we found the perfect church for us. Things were going as we wanted, then here comes another challenge. The coordinator we booked wasn’t available anymore due to conflicting dates but they immediately found a team to replace them. We got a bit sad, since we had everything planned out with the first coordinator already. Moving forward, we met our new coordinator two days before our wedding. Thinking of what else should happen? We were actually prepared already of some hiccups towards the wedding day then here comes the rain. It was pretty exhausting, thinking of what’s going to happen tomorrow. Praying that God would give us a perfect sunny day even just for one day. During that moment, me and my fiancé was just like—“Let go and let’s trust God”.
The day has come, our big day! Both of us and the whole family were very excited and we were smiling ear-to-ear…the sun is out! Our family and friends who initially couldn’t make it came! We were watching the news and there were no reports about Taal being erupting again. Our suppliers were all set. The people we love were all there. It was truly God’s intervention.
During my walk down the aisle, I was very emotional. The struggles prior to the wedding were really surpassed by me and Arnold. It was a feeling of “Us against the world”, literally our challenges just flashed back in my head from the first time we met till now. We’ve faced so many obstacles and trials along the way until our big day but our love is always stronger than any of that. To love is to be fearless. It’s the perseverance to pursue each other till the end was always the key for us. A beautiful ending and peaceful beginning. Truly, love conquers everything.
