Esteemed designer Albert Andrada is better known these days as the creator of Miss Universe 2015 Pia Wurtzbach’s iconic royal blue gown. More than his contribution to Philippine pageantry, Andrada is an accomplished designer known for his impeccable craftsmanship and world-class flair that dazzled Middle Eastern royals and international celebrities.
For his Marry Me At Marriott offering, he presented a collection that was both ethereal and mysterious aptly named “Illuminati”. Opening the show was a model dressed as an angel descending from the top of the escalator followed by Andrada’s models and muses which included the likes of actress Lovi Poe, supermodel Marina Benipayo and society maven Tessa Prieto-Valdez.
Models showcased intricately embellished creations in a variety of silhouettes and treatments. From an electric-pleated tiered ball gown to a beaded sheer dress under an elegant gray blue sleeveless robe, Andrada displayed versatility and a mastery of mixing fabrics and patterns to come up with a garment that’s both traditional and modern.
Andrada also presented a capsule menswear collection that’s on trend with the use of subtle yet luxurious fabrics with a little bit of sheen for suits and tuxedos.
The collection’s color palette of ivory, white, gray and soft blue was further enhanced by a new element introduced by the designer. To the delight of the audiences, the hems of the gowns and dresses were lit with LED lights during the finale, adding an element of the whimsical and a clever use of technology to evoke a certain mood.
