The iconic sakura trees are in full bloom, inspiring artists and travellers who continue to revel in its fleeting beauty. Such was the case with designer Bing Cristobal when he came up with a capsule collection for his 2019 bridal shoot. Inspired by the beauty of the cherry blossoms, Cristobal incorporated elements of the delicate blooms into his newest collection.

Shot on location at the Shinjuku Gyoen Park in Tokyo, models donned Cristobal’s romantic pieces against the picture perfect profusion of white and pink blooms. Mimicking the subtle shades of the sakura trees, Bing worked with a palette incorporating whites, creams, blush, pinks and a hint of black. Design details featured in his gowns show the collection’s unmistakable inspiration. His bridal gown is light and airy with the use of layers of tulle embellished with white floral appliques, seed pearls and crystals.

Another garment was a cream lace gown embroidered with an eye-catching pink floral motif accented with pearl beads.

Groomswear these days are no longer confined to the classic tuxedo or barong tagalog. Grooms are more welcome to show their personality with the use of more color and prints. Cristobal capitalizes on this trend by offering a variety of looks for the grooms as well.

He still has his classic black and white tuxedo, a nod to the stark contrast of the dark branches of the sakura tress and its light colored flowers but perhaps his most interesting piece is a floral dinner jacket paired with a white turtleneck giving the ensemble a cool vintage vibe.
