In 2012, Blake Lively debuted her massive oval sparkler from now-husband – Ryan Reynolds. The exceptional pink diamond ring from jeweler Lorraine Schwartz was the talk of the town and the effect was not lost on a young Hailey Baldwin who tweeted: “If my ring isn’t as big as Blake Lively’s I don’t want to get married.”
Fast-forward to 2018, and the 21-year old model from the Baldwin acting clan is at the center of glossies and tabloids after sporting a massive diamond ring from her fiancé, pop superstar – Justin Bieber.
The pair has been moving within the same social circles for years but stunned the world with their whirlwind romance. The couple has had on and off again high profile relationships with other people that entertainment watchers initially dismissed their romance as nothing but a fling. That was until photos of the couple vacationing in the Bahamas last July surfaced with the statuesque model wearing a diamond on her ring finger. Even grainy paparazzi shots couldn’t dull the brilliance of spectacular sparkler.
The singer later posted a lengthy message on his Instagram account professing his love for the model confirming their engagement and dispelling rumors that their romance wasn’t the real deal. Details on the ring soon became available as the public caught glimpses of the model wearing it during her numerous outings.
Initial reports say the ring was priced at a quarter of a million dollars but it turns out, it was double the price reported. The $500,000 engagement ring was made by New York-based jeweler Solow & Co. Owner – Jack Solow was commissioned to make the ring, as he was a close friend of Bieber’s manager.
Entertainment agency TMZ chatted with the jeweler who revealed that the singer had a very hands-on approach when it came to stone selection and ring design. In an interview with People magazine, he said – Bieber “wanted something that would gracefully accentuate Hailey’s beautifully-shaped hands. We settled on an oval stone that was just exceptional in its length and grace.” He also mentions that they only had a few weeks to create the ring.
This September, Baldwin graced the cover of Vogue Mexico giving the world an unobstructed view of her left ring finger. Shot in black and white – the most talked about ring of the season was shot in its full glory ending speculations about its actual design. The massive 10-carat elongated oval stone is set on an 18k yellow gold band instead of the initially reported double pave diamond band much like Blake Lively’s or Game of Thrones star – Sophie Turner’s. The diamond appears to float but the design is simple and totally extra all at the same time.
