In Japanese, the word kokoro means heart and it became the perfect basis for a catchy hashtag coined by longtime couple – Camille Co and her blogger boyfriend Joni Koro as they announced their engagement recently.
The designer/style influencer extraordinaire recently posted a photo on her Instagram page of the exact moment when Joni got down on his knees as he slipped the ring on her finger. The proposal took place in Japan last month where the couple went for a short vacation. Camille shared snippets of their trip through her popular vlog on YouTube including the events leading up the proposal. For a couple who has a huge following on social media where almost all aspects of their lives are documented, they chose to keep the video of the proposal to themselves opting instead to share beautifully taken photos by Sweet Escape.
Wearing an auspicious red dress, the unsuspecting bride-to-be was roused earlier than usual (after a grueling first day of shopping, exploring and eating) under the pretense that the park they were going to – the Rikugien Garden looked prettier in the morning.
There wasn’t anything grand or extravagant about the proposal but Camille did show a dainty square-cut diamond ring, which according to Joni was a result of paying attention to what his now fiancée likes and what she doesn’t. They even upped their level of “coolness” after their surprisingly understated engagement by celebrating with a meal at Family Mart joking to the camera that they would have to save for the wedding and the house by eating convenience store food every day. They did, however, go for something a bit fancy in the evening with a more traditional ramen and sake dinner at Ramen Nagi because when one gets proposed to in Tokyo – why not?
Congratulations, Camille and Joni! Kampai!
