Justine Navato has sparked a buzz in the industry when he started doing the makeup of Binibining Pilipinas-International 2018 Ahtisa Manalo who started wearing looks that are light, fresh, and peachy, digressing from the usual smokey-eye.
“I started doing make up for pageants but I’ve always been a fan of fresh and glowing make up so with time, I’ve learned to merge two looks in one.”
Beyond pageantry, Justine also does the freshest and sweetest faces in the Showbiz industry like Chesca Garcia and Denise Laurel.
When it comes to bridal makeup, Justine expresses his excitement in collaborating with the bride where his skills and his vision are sewn together to achieve the bride’s best look.
“Aside from trial make up which is a must especially for brides whom I will work with for the first time, I usually ask them what look do they envision themselves in for their big day. I also ask for a sketch or picture of their gown and the theme of the wedding so that our look will be cohesive with the overall feel of the wedding ceremony and reception”
In the process of the trial makeup, Justine believes it’s the perfect time to give brides suggestions, be upfront with them about looks that are doable, and try looks that will complement and bring out their best features.
“Bridal beauty is primarily about how the bride feels more than how she looks. More than giving her the glow with makeup, it is about giving her that extra confidence and making her feel that it’s her day and she is at her most beautiful.”
Justine shares tips on how brides should prepare before her big day:
- Get an ample amount of sleep the night before the wedding day.
- Hydrate your skin.
- Have your facial hair waxed.
- Use a sheet mask that is suitable for your skin the night before the wedding.
- Have your brows groomed or threaded a few days before the wedding.
- Always have the color of your brows match your hair color.
