With a hefty list of things brides-to-be need to do, the Catarata nuptial was filled with significant symbolism centering on one concrete theme: the couple’s profession.

Our featured bride, Anne Catarata, works as a Public Health Nutritionist Dietitian while her husband Enzo Catarata works as a Police Officer. One day, fate brought them together and assigned them to the same Barangay where their love story would blossom. This is why the couple decided to make their respective professions their wedding theme.

“If not for our respective professions, we wouldn’t have been able to meet each other. Our ‘kilig’ days happened in the health center or whenever I passed by the police station.”

Fate not only brought them to the same barangay, it made sure that their paths crossed. Given that Anne only goes to the barangay’s health center on Thursdays, it was serendipitous for Enzo to fall under the weather that day.

“One afternoon during my duty, a sick policeman visited the health center and needs to see our physician. But our in-house doctor wasn’t around. So he ended up on my table where I checked his vital signs and gave him relieving medicines. I also tried to crack some jokes in the hopes of making him feel better, but the policeman gave no reaction at all.. suplado ata. But I guess he wasn’t in the mood to talk to us since he’s having a high fever. He then left without saying anything else but ‘thank you’.”

“Exactly a week after, my heart got broken. My ex boyfriend broke up with me without any clear reason.”

But Anne’s heartbreak led Enzo to the opportunity to put the pieces back together and make it new again.

“Then came the best Thursdays of my life. While I was busy with my paperwork, a barangay security force (Barangay Tanod) handed me a stem of rose and a piece of chocolate and told me that it came from the police officer who got his checkup recently. I told him that I don’t remember him and asked him to stop bothering me.”

“But Enzo didn’t give up. He courted me through food, lots of it! Since he knew that I am a Nutritionist Dietitian, he always leaves my table with a healthy and scrumptious breakfast so I can start my day right. He even brought me fresh fruits for snacks and manages to cook lunch for me.”

He’s the one. “With his perseverance and dedication despite me being grumpy and grouchy all the time, Enzo finally hooked my attention and made me decide to open myself to fall in love again.”

She’s the one. “I found out that Enzo hasn’t been in a relationship for a very long time. He told me that he wasn’t in any rush and that he was just waiting for the time he will meet a lady who will settle down with him in the future. Enzo, upon seeing me, believed that it was me.”

With their beautiful love story, Anne did not waste any chance to let chapters of their story to unfold through the personalized details in their wedding.

“I believe weddings need not be extravagant just to please everyone, it should be a reflection and celebration of the couple’s personality and very own love story.”

“I hope we can inspire more couples, especially the DIY Brides, to not be afraid to go way over the traditional, to think outside the box, and dare to be unique.”

Don’t panic, it’s organic! Even the menu features a healthy list of dishes for the guests.

Despite all the greens, a little sugar never hurt anyone. So here’s a mountain of donuts with a police car topper. Because nothing gets cops through a hard day’s work like donuts and coffee!
And talk about getting really personal, we love these caricatures on the tables instead of name cards. The best part is, this could also double as a really cool souvenir for your guests!
Instead of flower girls carrying, well, flowers.. they carried these hand-painted signs instead that couldn’t be more appropriate to the wedding theme!
