For every bride-to-be, choosing what hair and makeup look to go for is as important as choosing the dress itself. The fresh-faced, matte bridal trend that flooded 2017 is gorgeous, but for the bolder ones out there, don’t be afraid to go a step further and get the look of your dreams. So before we ring in the new year, we gathered some of Bridal Fashion Week’s top trends for Fall 2018 for some beauty inspiration.
In Full Bloom
Flowers are having quite a moment, but not in the way you’d expect. From reconstructed veils to contemporary flower crowns, wearing florals prove to have endless possibilities.
Marchesa debuted this gorgeous veil of silk flowers that had us all swooning.
Tiny flowers give a refreshing, contemporary twist to the flower crown trend, as seen at the Reem Acra show.
Go For Glow
Bye bye, flat matte. Hello, dewy skin! This is one trend we can’t get enough of, whether it be on bridal runways or in real life. The spotlight’s all on you, so you might as well shine your way through.
Over the moon about the barely-there makeup at the Monique Lhuillier show. The main point of this look is to get that healthy, I-woke-up-like-this effect that would make everyone go green with envy.
Models at Reem Acra were all aglow. For beginners, this look is basically where one should highlight – the highest points of the faces aka the cheekbones and the bridge of the nose. You can also add highlighter to the inner corners of your eyes if you’re feeling extra.
Pucker Up
There’s no reason why you shouldn’t sport a bold lip on your big day. Whether you’re a matte or a gloss kind of gal, there’s a crimson hue for you. Here are a couple of beauty inspirations straight from the runways.
If you’re more into the matte look, a bright red or pink, or, in the case of the Temperley show, a bit of both. This pinkish red hue is the perfect mix of old-school glam and new-age nowness. Classic yet current.
The return of the gloss greeted beauty enthusiasts this year, reminiscent of the early 2000’s. One of our favorite looks, so far, is this one from Naeem Khan. It involves a gradient lip that starts with a cherry hue and transitions into a deep, almost plum shade. All this, of course, is coated in a clear gloss to amplify the look.
Contemporary Updo
From loose, casual chignons to dramatic, blinged updo’s, buns were all the rage at the Fall 2018 Bridal Fashion Week.
This low chignon, as seen at Monique Lhuillier, is a romantic and foolproof hairstyle for brides who prefer something low maintenance.
In contrast, this elegant updo from Ines Di Santo is fit for a princess. You can choose to accessorize with pearls, diamonds, or even a tiara and get as extravagant as your imagination goes.
Soft Waves
Nothing screams girl-next-door-chic than soft, cascading curls. Think tropical beaches meets suburban small town – like the main character of a Nicholas Sparks film. And who wouldn’t want to star in their own chick flick? You are the protagonist, the leading lady of your love story, and this hairstyle will easily transform you to fit the part.
The hairstylists at Monique Lhuillier sprayed Moroccanoil Dry Texture Spray and curled the models’ hair in 1 1/4 curling barrels, which resulted in this relaxed, beachy look.
Models at Oleg Cassini wore their shiny locks in big, elegant waves, which were complemented by a pink-toned neutral makeup and statement chandelier earrings.
