The best wedding dresses from the big screen

The first glimpse we get of a wedding is on the big screen. From there, we save bits and pieces of the things we like in the little bridal book inside our head and subconsciously making decisions like a color theme, the floral arrangements, and the music the band will play. But the most important (and the hardest) decision we make is—the dress. So here is a tribute to the dresses on the big screen that made us feel excited to fall in love with the one who will make us say ‘yes’.

#1 Kate Hudson in Bride Wars

Kate Hudson defined a Vera Wang creation with the dress made of dreams: princess tulle skirt with the touch of a lavender ribbon paired with a bouquet of soft lavender blooms.

#2 Anne Hathaway in Bride Wars

And of course, it’s a tie with #TeamAnneHathaway who donned this semi-structured dress that folded in all the right places that hug the curves instead of adding on a few pounds. And the soft, almost freestyle, off-shoulder give a touch of couture.

#3 Is it just a coincidence or does Anne Hathaway just know how to make a statement in a wedding dress? The lace that’s cut around the shoulder highlights the clavicles more than the shoulder itself, a perfect balance between sophisticated and sexy.

#4 Julia Roberts in Runaway Bride

Julia Roberts really showed us what a bridal dress should look like when you decide to get married in a ranch on an autumn day. But the real exclamation point to the dress is the Julia’s hair. Nothing beats a formal dress paired with a carefree hairstyle to soften the whole look!

#5 Kristen Dunst in Spiderman

Speaking of runaway brides, here’s a dress that makes you want to run away—with the hubby. Mary Jane’s dress (played by Kristen Dunst) has just the right amount of frills and *gasps* no beading! Making it fresh and perfectly appropriate for any season.

#6 Julie Andrews in The Sound of Music

‘Classic’ is the word that gets thrown around the most as the bride describes the dress of her dreams to her designer. So why don’t we throw it all the way back to Fraulein Maria’s wedding dress that is so classic, it’s still considered fashion-forward today—with the high-collared neckline, cinched waist, and the long sleeves buttoned high up above the wrists.

#7 Elizabeth Taylor in Father of the Bride

Elizabeth Taylor’s dress just proves that you could be as daring as you want to be with your dress, but it still remains a classic. Because anything that’s made beautifully with the full mastery of craftsmanship will be one for the history books.

#8 Kristen Stewart in Twilight

The charm of Bella Swan’s dress (played by Kristen Stewart) can be found in the person wearing it—a girl whose first instinct is to get into a pair of jeans and sneakers then suddenly finds herself getting married in the most beautiful dress she has ever worn. The dress also wasn’t a far cry from her personality: full coverage in the front (with intricate panels that are to die for) and party in the back!

#9 Sarah Jessica Parker in Sex and the City

And finally—this dress by Vivienne Westwood that broke all the rules and silhouettes that were replaced instead with personality and soul.
